Joan Polzin, MFA

Joan Polzin completed her Master in Fine Arts at Western Connecticut State University. She studied both illustration and painting, and brings a wide variety of skills, viewpoints and life experiences into her work. She works in oils, watercolor and ink, and pastel, as well as drawing using ink or charcoal.

Joan has a special interest in realism, and portrait and figure painting. She also experiments with painting in an expressionist style, and has a particular interest in women’s issues, which she tries to address in some of her work. Her more serious work is balanced by her whimsical paintings and illustrations in watercolor.

A native of New York City, Joan is also a long time resident of Brookfield, CT, where she resides with her husband near a lake. She has two adult children, three stepchildren and nine step grandchildren.

She is a member of SCAN of Newtown, CT, and The Washington Art Association, Washington, CT. Her work hangs in several private collections.
